Accessibility · UX · Practical consulting

Technology is the tool.
People are the point.

We believe technology should make life easier, not more complicated.

We help organizations create digital experiences that are accessible, intuitive, and built around the people who use them.

We combine accessibility expertise, user experience thinking, and practical consulting to help teams solve complex challenges with confidence.

Our story

One phone call.
One weekend.
An unexpected beginning.

Meredith Colby
Founder and Principal Member
Fourteen years ago

Others saw a project too small. Meredith saw a way to help.

Fourteen years ago, a small technology company wanted to sell its products to the federal government. They had the expertise, but needed someone who understood digital accessibility requirements. They searched for a consultant, but the project was too small. Too short. Too specialized. No one was interested.
Through a mutual colleague, they were introduced to our founder, Meredith. She worked through the weekend, learning everything she could about their project and helping them prepare to move forward. By Monday morning, they had what they needed, and Meredith had her first consulting client. She didn’t know it then, but that weekend would shape the next chapter of her career.
That first project became the foundation for what would eventually become The Axia Group.
Over the next fourteen years

One client introduced another. One project led to the next.

No business plan. No marketing strategy. No investor pitch.

It was just an opportunity to help—and a belief that clients, regardless of size, deserved a partner who would show up, solve problems, and make complex topics easier to understand. Over the next fourteen years, almost every new opportunity came through a referral.
That first client grew into a successful company and was later acquired by one of the world’s “Big Four” accounting and professional services firms. Years later, Meredith had the opportunity to work with that firm as well—a reminder that great relationships have a way of opening unexpected doors.
The business grew because people trusted us to deliver quality work, explain accessibility in plain language, and become an extension of their team.

Why we’re becoming Verve

A bigger conversation. A truer name.

The Axia Group

Verve

Over time, we realized clients weren’t hiring us just to perform accessibility audits or interpret technical standards. They were asking us to solve bigger challenges.
Accessibility was never the destination. It was the beginning of a much larger conversation about people, technology, and design.
The questions grew with us

Same purpose.
New energy.

Verve reflects the energy, creativity, and curiosity we’ve always brought to our work. It better represents who we’ve become and where we’re headed.
While our name is changing, our purpose isn’t. We’re still helping organizations create technology that works for everyone. We just have a better way to describe it.

■
Why we do this

Behind every digital task is a person trying to get on with life.

A form, a meeting agenda, or a benefits application can be a doorway—or a barrier. Accessibility is about making that doorway available for all people.
We bring technical detail back to human needs, helping teams understand not just what to change, but why it matters.
■
What guides us

A capable partner. A human approach.

Listen before solving

We make room for people’s experiences, ask good questions, and understand the service before recommending change.

Make complexity clear

Our specialty is translating standards into plain language, useful examples, and decisions that people can act on.

Build with, not for

We work alongside your team and share the reasoning and the tools so knowledge stays when the project ends.
■
Working alongside you

Your context shapes the work. Not the other way around.

We partner with development, communications, IT, procurement, and program teams across companies and all levels of government.

A shared starting point

Align on priorities, responsibilities, and a realistic scope before the work begins.

Useful work in the open

Review findings together and make room for questions, constraints, and trade-offs.

A handoff people can use

Leave clear documentation, examples, and next steps that fit your day-to-day work.

Let’s put your mission into practice.

Tell us what your team is working on. We’ll help you find a practical place to begin.
